Insta-Buzz: What The Stars Were Up To On National Day Week
Here are some of our favourite snaps of our stars gearing up to celebrate Singapore's 55th birthday.
This year's National Day is a lot different from the past. For starters, because of COVID-19, there be no one cheering in the bleachers during the parade, which has been turned into a digitalised and immersive experience that lasts throughout the day.
But having to get used to the new normal hasn't dampened the excitement to celebrate Singapore's 55th birthday though, as our stars have shown on social media.
You can take them out of Singapore but you can't take the Singapore out of them. JJ Lin and Tanya Chua, who are both based in Taiwan, decided to have a little get-together, where they enjoyed Singaporean fare like kaya toast, satay, bak kut teh, nasi lemak and char kway teow. There was one thing that they couldn't get their hands on, though: Chilli crab. You guys can get your fix the next time you come home, okay?

Now this has us wishing that Rui En will release an album again. Watch her rendition of the song here:
Meet this year's five NDP hosts: (from left) Rebecca Lim, Suthasini Rajenderan, Joakim Gomez, Hossan Leong and Fauzie Laily. The dream team has been hard at work rehearsing for the big day and we can't wait to watch them shine on stage.

Admit it: you've probably belted out an NDP tune or 10 in the past week. Jamie shared a short video of herself singing along to the Chinese version of 'We Will Get There', revealing that this song comes second in her heart only after 'Home'.
What's your favourite NDP song?

The Bras Basah Precinct and Civic District will look a little more dressed up this August as there's a National Day-themed light-up going on until August 30. Romeo was one of the few to have caught it early, but if you're intending to head down after being inspired by the actor, don't forget to mask up and adhere to social distancing rules.

Since we can't have a huge celebration this year, we enjoyed watching the Singaporean folk-duo Diya Tan and Carrie Yeo perform on Facebook Live in the comfort of our homes.

That's one way to make a statement. If the matchy-matchy patriotic outfits on their pooches weren't enough to catch your eye, the huge Singapore flag on Pierre's Land Rover definitely would.

It's been some time since we've seen the Singapore Idol champ on TV, and we can't wait to catch him perform tomorrow (Aug 10), 8pm at the National Day Concert 2020. The show will be aired on both Ch 5 and meWATCH.

What better way to say 'I miss you Singapore' than to bake Singa the Lion pork floss buns? Yvonne's creations are so cute and delish that they wouldn't look out of place in the display cabinets of bakeries across the island.
