Two weeks after sharing that her dad, who lives in New Zealand, had been hospitalised after suffering a heart attack, Rui En shared a piece of “terrific news” through her fanclub, RBKD.

The 40-year-old actress revealed that her dad’s triple bypass surgery had gone smoothly, with no complications, and that he’s well on the road to recovery.

“A few days before Dad’s open heart surgery, I told him I hoped to be able to speak of God’s goodness after. The outpouring of prayers and support from even complete strangers has left us Lohs feeling so incredibly blessed,” she wrote.

In the post, Rui En, who’s usually not one to share pictures of her family, attached a snap of her dad ready to tuck into a meal post-surgery. She explained that she’d done so as she wanted to convey a “message of hope” to everyone.

“As you can see from the photo, he absolutely doesn’t look like a 72-year-old who had open heart surgery. If there is anything all of us need now, it is a message of hope, which is why when I asked his permission, Dad said, ‘Share! Share! Show my new chest tattoo !’.

“ Do continue to keep Dad in your prayers as he embarks on the recovery process. To anyone out there feeling overwhelmed by darkness and pain, it gets better, even if it feels far from it now. Trust me.” she goes on to write, before adding: “See you guys at Star Awards on the 18th!”.
