Hongkong actress Charmaine Sheh’s career is booming. Her role as Consort Xian in the mega-hit Story of Yanxi Palace made her a household name in China and she recently starred opposite Huang Xiaoming in period drama Winter Begonia, which revolves around the world of Peking opera.

So when the actress appeared on variety show Not A Loner, which reveals how celebs who live alone unwind at home, viewers were excited, to say the least.

1 of 3 Home sweet home

In the episode, Charmaine gave the public a look at her home in Hongkong for the very first time. According to reports, the 45-year-old stays in an upscale serviced apartment building, where rent for the smallest unit goes from HKD$57K (S$10.4K) to HKD$95K (S$17.4K) a month.

A month’s rent for a three-room apartment is said to go up to a whopping HKD$320K (S$58.8K) and Charmaine is believed to be staying in one of the most expensive units in the complex.

2 of 3 A heart-to-heart talk with her pals

Later in the episode, Charmaine invited her friends, Hongkong stars Florence Kwok and Bobby Au-yeung for a quick catch-up sesh. During their conversation, Charmaine revealed that one of her previous relationships ended because her ex had complained that she was too engrossed in her work.

She then went on to share that she is a big believer in marriage, and that she will not think of divorce once she gets hitched. “Being together for the rest of our lives is perfection in itself, but my perfect partner has not appeared in my life yet,” she lamented.

A while later, Bobby brought up the topic of having kids, and asked if Charmaine had thought of freezing her eggs.

“But I’m already 45 [this year]. If I were to have kids, the earliest I’d give birth would be when I’m 47. When my child’s 20, I’ll be 67,” replied Charmaine, before asking: “Will I be able to conceive?”

Thankfully, a consultation with a gynaecologist managed to allay Charmaine’s worries. While the gynaecologist did share that eggs from women between the age of 45 to 50 tend to be in poorer condition compared to those from a younger woman, it does not mean that she would be not be able to conceive.

There's still hope for me then, said Charmaine.
