Angelababy’s $19.7mil Shanghai Apartment Has Amazing Views And A Giant Cage For Her Cats
The place is rumoured to be a wedding gift from Huang Xiaoming.
Over the years, Chinese actress Angelababy has gotten flak from netizens for all kinds of reasons, from her “ugly” handwriting to not wearing a mask, from her bad acting to, um, seemingly having dandruff (seriously). Oh, and she also has to put up with incessant rumours that she and her Chinese actor husband Huang Xiaoming are no longer married.
It isn’t easy being the target of haters, but hey, if she wants to brood over it, at least she can do so in the utmost luxury and comfort. A few days ago, the 31-year-old posted a picture of her mother watching the newest season of her variety show Keep Running while casually showing off her swanky Shanghai apartment.
In addition to being spacious enough to fit the biggest pet cage we’ve ever seen inside a home, the living room sports floor-to-ceiling glass windows (the hallmark of an atas abode) offering impressive views of the Bund’s world-famous skyline, including the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower.
While some animal lovers pointed out that the family cats should be free to roam around the place instead of being cooped up like that, Xiaoming was quoted by Hongkong’s Apple Daily as saying, “The cage is their home. They usually play outside during the day and sleep inside the cage at night.”
Before long, internet sleuths began attempting to pinpoint the location of Angelababy’s posh pad by using the scenery as a guide. It is believed that she lives in one of the private residences located from the 42nd to 55th storeys of the same building as the Regent Shanghai Pudong, which was formerly the Four Seasons Hotel.
Needless to say, such an exclusive address doesn’t come cheap. According to some netizens, housing prices in that area are set at a whopping 200,000 yuan (about S$39,400) per square metre, which means that Angelababy’s 700 sqm apartment is estimated to be worth more than 100mil yuan (about S$19.7mil).
Both Angelababy and Xiaoming are no strangers to attracting attention when it comes to their ritzy properties. Before they got married in 2015, they were reported to have splurged 100mil yuan on a villa, which was said to resemble an old European castle, in Xiaoming’s hometown in Qingdao.
While her Shanghai crib is rumoured to be a wedding gift from Xiaoming, Angelababy has also made some big real estate investments on her own. After her popularity rose, she bought property in Hongkong’s exclusive Residence Bel-air, and two years ago, she purchased a HK$100mil (S$18mil) unit in the Mid-Levels region on Hongkong Island under her mum’s name.
