Tony Leung Chiu-Wai turned 59 yesterday (Jun 27) and to mark the occasion, his wife Carina Lau, 55, posted this photo of the actor looking very handsome indeed (see below). Her caption? A very simple Happy Birthday .
The couple got married in Bhutan 13 years ago and a lot has been said about their relationship.

Some netizens have described the marriage as being one-sided as they feel that Carina gives in too much to Tony.

Apparently, Carina was the one who suggested they get married — after dating for 19 years, mind you — and Tony's response was allegedly, “Okay, but you’ll have to take care of all [the wedding arrangements].”

But that's not saying that Tony didn't reciprocate Carina's affections.

Netizens dug up an old interview where Tony confessed that he sometimes gets depressed when he’s too immersed in a role. However, all that negativity dissipates the moment he sees Carina, which is why he calls her his remedy .

Tony also revealed that he has turned down job offers and other commitments where a lot of money was offered because Carina needs him to be by her side.

In a separate interview, Carina had this to say about their marriage: “It isn’t one where we’re in the best state of love. But I can say that we’re both in the best condition, and we’ve also found a way to communicate with each other after being together for so long. We have a comfortable relationship and it works for us.”
