The Carrie Wong-Ian Fang leaked DMs scandal has taken the country by storm with allegations that they are more than just friends. The two stars have since made a police report about the leak and exposure of their private messages. And today (May 18) Carrie’s boyfriend, Boris Lin released a statement via his lawyer’s office which he posted on his Instagram. In the message, he showed his support for his girlfriend and also issued a thinly-veiled warning to a Mr Fang, who we assume is Ian.

Here is what Boris said in his statement which 8days.sg has translated into English:

“We are very good, thanks everyone!

Now that it has come to this, I believe I have a duty to explain the situation to everyone. I believe that when my other half needed me, I wasn’t there for her. I really haven’t done enough for my other half.

Mr Fang and my other half are really good friends who are always joking with each other. They are more candid and relaxed with each other when they talk.

When it comes to this whole incident, I believe that apart from Mr Fang being more proactive with what he said, my other half did not do anything wrong.

I hope that after this matter blows over, Mr Fang will stop coming in between our relationship and that he can respect his own life and the friends around him.

I want to thank the public for their interest in us and for their support which was the biggest source of motivation for us to keep on going. The matter has now become a legal issue, and those who disseminate and forward the clips may face up to two years of imprisonment. And those who disclose private information of others may face up to five years of imprisonment.

We feel bad to have troubled the media.

Boris’s letter also included a warning that those who continue to ruin another person’s reputation can be charged for defamation and may face up to a year or less in prison. The letter then ended with a message thanking a ‘Lawrence’ for his understanding. We assume the ‘Lawrence’ referred to here is Lawrence Wong, who is Carrie's co-star in upcoming Ch 8 drama My One In A Million. The actor was dragged into scandal when part of Carrie and Ian’s leaked IG DM conversation showed both stars badmouthing him. Carrie has since publicly apologised to Lawrence.

“Thank you for being the bigger person. Despite everything you lend me your listening ear and offer me words of encouragement. I've learned and will keep learning. Once again, I'm sorry,” Carrie wrote on Instagram on May 15.
