After badmouthing her younger brothers, Taiwanese stars Chang Fei and Fei Yu-ching, and suggesting they “go [their] separate ways [as] people with no common ground should not work together”, it seems like former singer-turned-Buddhist nun Venerable Heng Shu has changed her tune.

According to reports, during a recording for variety show Super Lucky yesterday (Sep 21), Heng Shu, who used to be known as Jenny Fei, explained that she had said all those things in a fit of anger, and that she “still loves [her brothers]” and wants to start afresh with them.

The 70-year-old, who announced her showbiz comeback earlier this month, added that after news of their feud broke, her juniors texted her, telling her: “Don’t bring problems of the older generation to the next. Siblings don’t bear grudges.”

“I am fine after venting my anger,” she continued.

Despite previously declaring that she would not share the stage with her brothers again, Heng Shu now hopes to host a variety show with Chang Fei, 68, and has even thought of a name for the show — Liang Zhang Wang Pai (translated as Two Aces).

“With me around, your viewership will be top,” she said in an open invitation to TV stations.

Heng Shu has been sporting a new look since returning to the limelight after a 30-year hiatus and settling her NT$30 million (S$1.4mil) dollar debt.

Instead of her Buddhist robes, she donned a suit with high-heeled booties for yesterday’s recording, and even wore make-up and blue false eye lashes. Not forgetting to pile on the bling, she accessorised her look with her mum’s gold necklace with her dad’s six-carat sapphire ring, as well as a million-dollar ruby-encrusted watch, which her fans gifted during a performance in Indonesia.

“I can finally sit cross-legged after removing my robe,” she joked, adding that her butt perked up while wearing the 15cm-high boots. “This is my new look. I will not show skin [like before]. How can I do that at my age? Everything is saggy now.”

Not that she needs to. Heng Shu has been highly sought after by TV producers since her comeback and has made quite a killing from talk show and home shopping appearances. “I am back at my old work place. I am really very happy,” she said.

She revealed last week that she will be hosting two new shows — one variety and another about religion — but her dream is to front her own talk show one day.

In March, Heng Shu fell out with her brothers, Chang Fei and singer Fei Yu-ching, after they went public with her financial troubles. They claimed she had racked up more than NT$200mil (S$9.5mil) in debt after borrowing from more than 20 loan sharks over the past 40 years, though she denied this.
