Chapman To Fat-Shames Jay Chou On Facebook (Twice); Says He Doesn’t Talk To “Artists From China”
The two of them appeared in Initial D together but it looks like they’re no longer buddies.
Hongkong actor Chapman To is one of those outspoken fellas who just does not mince his words, even — or rather, especially — when it comes to very sensitive topics. And that includes someone’s weight.
Last Friday (Jan 15), the 48-year-old shared a photo of Mandopop king Jay Chou and his wife, Taiwanese-Australian actress Hannah Quinlivan, at the premiere of new racing film Nezha, which stars Hannah and was produced by Jay.
The event caused a stir ‘cos it was the first time the couple are seen on stage together since getting married six years ago. But there was another less flattering detail that got people talking, which Chapman also ruthlessly pointed out in his Facebook post.
“Could this be the legendary ‘Fatty Racing God of Mount Akina’?” he wrote, adding an insulting twist to Jay’s character’s nickname in his movie debut Initial D, which Chapman also starred in. “I’ve heard that when you’re rich, you can do whatever you want! Could it be that I have a good figure ‘cos I’m poor?”
It gets worse.
When a netizen posted a comment suggesting that Chapman should teach Jay how to shed the kilos, he scoffed: “I rarely contact artists from China.”
While Jay is, in fact, Taiwanese, he is extremely popular in China and once rubbed a lot of people the wrong way when he posted a photo of himself enjoying some afternoon tea with Jackie Chan, who is known for his ardent support for the CCP.
On the other hand, Chapman’s frank anti-Beijing views have gotten him blacklisted in the country.
Chapman’s shade against Jay didn’t end there. The next day (Jan 16), Chapman, who is currently in Taiwan to prepare for a new show, put up a post featuring loads of food pics and another scathing dose of fat-shaming against Jay.
“If you stay in Taiwan and keep eating like this, you will soon be even fatter than Jay Chou!” he said.
He even included a before-and-after comparison collage of the two of them, showing how Jay has a much rounder face compared to last time while Chapman, who used to be chubbier, has since acquired an impressively ripped bod.
Poor Jay, 42, is certainly no stranger to being the target of such spiteful remarks concerning his weight.
Much has been said about how his love for bubble tea has made him, um, much fluffier than before, although he has also demonstrated that he can easily go “from Dad bod to Dat bod” (as Hannah hilariously put it) when he cuts down on the sugary beverage and hits the gym.
