This Chinese Singer Edited Herself Into Angelababy And Huang Xiaoming’s Wedding Pic And Netizens Are Super Pissed At Her
Why did she do that?
Chinese singer Xu Fei found herself in hot soup over the weekend because of a Weibo post she uploaded on July 31. The post was to promote her upcoming guest appearance on Huang Xiaoming's reality show, Chinese Restaurant 4, and while it looked normal at first glance, netizens soon realised that there was something very wrong with the picture Xu Fei had added.
You see, the 34-year-old had edited Xiaoming’s wedding photo with his wife Angelababy by superimposing her face on top of Angelababy's.
While Xu Fei had probably meant it as a tongue-in-cheek way of announcing her appearance on Chinese Restaurant 4, netizens were not amused at all. Many of them left comments on the post, criticising Xu Fei for disrespecting the couple.
Although Xu Fei quickly deleted the picture and issued an apology, some netizens still weren’t appeased.
In her apology, the singer mentioned that she had shown the edited picture to Xiaoming before she posted it on her Weibo, and that he was fine with her posting it.
I did not expect the post to have such an unpleasant effect on everyone's senses, so I changed the photo immediately. There should be a limit to such entertainment, and jokes should not cross the line. This time round, my good intentions have caused something unpleasant, [and] I will reflect on myself. My apologies to the netizens, fans, and friends who have been hurt by this, Xu Fei wrote.
You would think that's the end of the incident, right? Well, apparently not.
Netizens who remained critical of Xu Fei felt that the singer was implying that since Xiaoming “had no issues” with the edited picture, netizens had no right to criticise her for posting it. Some also slammed Xu Fei for not apologising to Angelababy, who they believe is the one who should feel insulted.
