Ekin Cheng And His Wife Built A Holiday Home On A S$1.8mil Piece Of Land He Owns In Hongkong

Nice.

It must feel nice to be Hongkong singer-actor Ekin Cheung. The 52-year-old star tied the knot with 46-year-old former TVB actress Yoyo Mung in 2013, and they’ve been happily married since.

As they don’t have plans to have kids, there's been talk that Ekin and Yoyo are looking to move to Japan in the near future. While those plans have been put on hold ‘cos of the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple has kept themselves busy fixing up this plot of land in the Yuen Long district that Ekin owns.

Ekin has always been very generous to Yoyo and her family. He made her a director of his company, EK Plus Limited, when they tied the knot seven years ago and he often surprises Yoyo with gifts.

Some years back, he had bought a plot of land in Yuen Long that was worth close to HK$10mil (S$1.79mil) for the actress' father.

According to a source close to the couple, Ekin had intended the plot of land to be a retirement home for his father-in-law. “Although Yoyo had a rough childhood and suffered a lot when her parents split up, Ekin still wanted to be filial towards his father-in-law. He initially wanted to build a house for Yoyo’s father to live out his retirement in but because Yoyo’s father is getting on in age and [the house is located in the countryside], it wouldn’t be convenient for him to stay there. In the end, Yoyo decided to build a holiday villa where they can entertain friends and guests.”

A reporter from Oriental Sunday later went down to Yuen Long to see if what the source said is true, and discovered that Yoyo and Ekin had indeed built a three-storey villa there. The house featured high walls and deep-set doors, with a gorgeous view of the neighbouring mountains. There's also a small lake behind the house. Oriental Sunday described the location as “serene”, with the villa being the area's standout landmark ‘cos of its modern architecture.
