Ella Chen is known for being brutally honest about everything from her love life to how she dealt with being branded the “ugliest member of S.H.E”.

1 of 2 Ella's method definitely worked for her

The singer was a guest on a recent episode of Chinese variety show Student, where she was asked about how she ended up with her husband. Without hesitation, she said: “Well, let’s go back to how I managed to land such a good man. The most important part of getting your man is to make sure that he’s interested. When all of you are in a group, you’ll see him sneaking glances at you, but you should first avoid him in case he gets shy.”

The 39-year-old continued, “Once he looks at you directly, you should do the same. After that first look, [you can go back to what you were doing], but when you turn back and he’s still looking, you know that he’s definitely interested.”

2 of 2 And they lived happily ever after

After confirming that he’s into you, she added, there’s no point in acting reserved. Instead, Ella suggests that going all out will make things easier for both you and your partner.

“If he asks you out on a date, you shouldn’t be coy. Just go all out! I wanted to get down on one knee within the first week I started dating my husband. I knew that he was the one.”

Ella and her husband, businessman Alvin Lai, were acquaintances for four years before sparks flew between them. They started meeting every day, and he moved in within a week. This was even before they started dating, and they officially became an item shortly afterwards. The couple tied the knot in 2012 and have a three-year-old son whose nickname is Jin Bao.
