It feels like just yesterday when Ella Chen became the first (and still only) member of S.H.E to be a mum.

Ella's son Daniel (who is affectionately known as Jin Bao) turned four on April 12, and for the second year in a row, they had to celebrate his birthday at home due to the pandemic.

It didn't dampen the spirits of Daniel though and the kid looked absolutely ecstatic.

Instead of a cake, Ella, who will be appearing virtually as a presenter on this Sunday's Star Awards, and her Malaysian businessman husband Alvin Lai prepared a plate of cream-filled strawberries which Daniel seemed to enjoy very much.

Ella also posted a heartwarming tribute to Daniel on social media, she wrote: “Happy fourth birthday to Jin Bao! It’s both a challenge and a journey to bring up a child. We’re trying very hard to learn how to be good parents. We don’t wish for Jin Bao to be extraordinary when he grows up; rather, we hope that he doesn’t stray from the right path. We’re very lucky to have achieved a work-life balance that gives him a good environment to grow up in.

We’re very lucky that we have so many people around us that have lent a helping hand. In particular, the teachers who work tirelessly and the aunties and uncles at Jin Bao’s school who shower love and attention on him. I’m grateful that all of you have continued to love Jin Bao, and I hope that he’ll continue to bask in this love and grow up healthily, safely and happily. Jin Bao, daddy and mummy love you. Happy birthday.”

Netizens were extremely touched by what Ella wrote, with many calling her “a great mother who truly cares about her son”.

“As a parent, it’s always tempting to push your child to excel at everything since so many others around you are doing the same. The fact that she wants the most basic, yet important things for her son is admirable, wrote one netizen.

There were also some who couldn’t stop gushing about how cute Daniel is, with some remarking that the little boy will “definitely grow up to be a heartbreaker” and that he “looks ready to front a kids clothing campaign”.
