Those who follow Hongkong actress Venus Wong on Instagram were in for a surprise on Thursday (Feb 13), when the 28-year-old uploaded a picture showing off her baby bump.

Venus’s celebrity friends, like Hongkong singer Kary Ng and Hongkong actress-model Janice Man, couldn’t help but gush with excitement, leaving comments congratulating Venus on becoming a mother. Even local actor Mark Lee left a comment to congratulate her.

You can't blame everyone for being excited. Venus had tied the knot with Hongkong director Derek Tsang, 39, only in September last year. They had dated for six years before getting hitched. Derek is also the son of Hongkong comedy icon Eric Tsang.

But as it turned out, Kary, Janice and Mark had jumped the gun with their comments.

Venus then told her pals to read her caption again.

“Today, I have some good news to share with everyone again! The Secret Diary of a Mom to Be will officially be released in theatres today! Aren’t you happy?” it read.

And just like what the title of the movie suggests, Venus plays an expectant mother, which explains her 'baby bump'.

It seems Venus’ little trick also fooled Hongkong singers Kandy Wong and Pakho Chau, with Kandy commenting, “I really want to hit you.”

Oops.

Well, at least everyone knows about the movie now?
