Avid viewers of TVB dramas in the ‘90s and early 2000s would remember Flora Chan, who was one of the broadcaster's top actresses with roles in popular dramas like Triumph in the Skies, At the Threshold of an Era, and Untraceable Evidence.

After marrying her manager Mike Chung in 2006 and giving birth to their daughter Mira the following year, Flora took a break from the spotlight to focus on her family.

She made her acting comeback when her husband filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and went behind the scenes to work as a producer when her contract ended in 2015. However, it now looks like she’s made yet another career switch.

Recently, netizens discovered that the 51-year-old may now be working as an English teacher.

According to reports, Flora’s name and photo were found on the official website of an English training centre in Shenzhen, China, where she is listed as a lecturer who gives face-to-face lessons.

Her profile states that she majored in Communications at Boston College in the United States and that she is pursuing her PhD in English at the University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Education.

It also says she was a host for TVB’s English language channel, although there’s no mention of her illustrious past as an actress.

Although Flora herself has not confirmed the reports about her new occupation, the news soon became a trending topic on social media.

While there were those who said that the star has “fallen from grace” — wait, isn't being a teacher a very honourable profession? — most netizens admired her for being able to let go of her old life in showbiz and have the courage to do her own thing.

Of course, netizens were also impressed by her educational qualifications, with some expressing their interest at signing up as one of her students.
