Hongkong actor Eddie Kwan’s daughter isn’t the only Miss Hong Kong 2021 contestant who has been turning heads.

19-year-old Kirsten Fok has become one of the most discussed personalities in Hongkong ever since she was spotted at the auditions, though not in a good way.

Netizens have unkindly likened Kirsten, who is of Chinese, Spanish and Filipino descent, to Toy Story’s Mrs Potato Head as well as veteran Hongkong actor Albert Law.

They also said that she looks like Buddha, a resemblance netizens pointed out 'cos of the way her hand is raised with the palm facing out (see main pic).

Though Kirsten was said to have made it past the first round of auditions, she didn't turn up for the second round on Wednesday (Jun 16), much to the disappointment of netizens as well as famed Hongkong insurance broker Joseph Lam.

The former barrister and ex-boyfriend of Miss Hong Kong 2015 Louisa Mak has since rallied netizens to bring Kirsten back into the competition via “sponsorship”.

In an Instagram Story, Joseph proposed crowdfunding to raise HK$1mil (S$173K) so TVB can “add a place” for Kirsten in the finals.

“If everyone donates HK$100 (S$17.30)… [with] 10,000 people [we] can raise HK$1mil. With a sponsorship of HK$1mil, I reckon she can make it to the finals and bring everyone joy,” he wrote.

Though Kirsten did not reveal the reason for her no-show, she posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday, thanking everyone for their support on her short Miss Hongkong journey.

“Thank you to all my fans for all the love and overwhelming support that I have received from you. You my fans are a huge part of our journey together!” she wrote.

Kirsten became an internet sensation during the auditions because of her hilarious antics. For example, she did all her media interviews in English. When asked where she's from, Kirsten said she come from Tung Chung (sic) , which is a residential area on Lantau Island.

Her number of Instagram followers has since surged from 300 to more than 2,000.

According to her profile, Kirsten is a musician. She has written and performed almost 40 songs, which can be found on Spotify and KKBOX, and has even released albums and singles under the moniker Lenar Bata.

Kirsten’s brother, who accompanied her to the audition, has also become a internet sensation because of his resemblance to Journey to the West’s Sha Wujing.

He is also a musician — he is apparently well-versed in the recorder — and has released six songs under the name Lenar Mitchell.

The siblings often post their performances on their YouTube channel where they also share unboxing videos.
