Fan Bingbing’s breakup with Li Chen was one of the most talked-about splits of 2019.

At that time, she had been engaged to the actor for two years, with many believing that they would get married. Alas, it was not meant to be.

Now, rumour has it that Bingbing, 39, has a new beau after she was spotted having dinner with top Chinese influencer Austin Li, 29.

The pair was photographed leaving a Shanghai restaurant together along with their respective assistants.

While some netizens think Bingbing and Austin had met up for work-related reasons, many others believe that they’re dating.

Those rumours have not been well-received by netizens, many of whom feel that Austin is “too good” for Bingbing. They think that Bingbing, who turns 40 in September, is too old (seriously?!) for the influencer, and that her sullied reputation from her career-killing tax evasion scandal will tarnish his image.

Austin, who is known as the King of Lipsticks, has over 40 million fans on DouYin. He got that nickname after he sold over 15,000 lipsticks in five minutes during a live stream.

He's known for his charity work too. Not only did he donate millions to the building of schools in rural towns, he also donated N95 masks and medical supplies to various cities when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its worst.

He also uses his massive platform to promote food products from less well-to-do provinces, and his fans have reciprocated by flooding local producers with orders, which helped them tide over the business lull during the pandemic.
