One can never be too careful about hygiene and cleanliness in the time of COVID-19, especially while travelling. Several celebs have made the news for their rather, um, dramatic airport OOTDs that make them look like they’re about to enter a radioactive wasteland. But hey, better safe than sorry, right?

The latest star to show off her ultra-protective in-flight fashion is G.E.M, who uploaded a YouTube vlog over the weekend documenting her journey from Hongkong to Shanghai for work. In addition to a surgical mask, the 28-year-old singer also sported goggles, a bucket hat with a face shield, and a plastic poncho.

After landing and clearing immigration, G.E.M and her crew got on a bus and were taken to a hotel, where they will be quarantined for two weeks.

“I just said goodbye to my colleagues and Mark, and this is where I will be living for the next 14 days,” she said when she was inside her room.

Yes, not only did her stylist boyfriend Mark Ngai get a special mention, he also made a brief appearance earlier in the video when they were on the bus. We suppose it’s G.E.M’s way of telling folks just how unbothered she is by those secret marriage reports, and a subtle way of mentioning that they’re sleeping in separate rooms. Why else would she have said bye to him?

Following a brief room tour and a look at her dinner, G.E.M proceeded to get busy cleaning her new “home” with disinfectant tablets, which were provided by the hotel along with a detailed set of instructions.

Yes, 2020 is the year where watching close-ups of stars wiping down toilet seats, door handles, and tables is considered acceptable entertainment content.

At the end of her vlog, G.E.M pointed out that her first day of quarantine officially only starts the next day, which means that the half-a-day that just went by was a “trial”.

Not that she’s complaining, though. “I’m actually looking forward to the next 14 days ‘cos I can sleep and wake up early, monitor my diet, and exercise every day!” she declared excitedly.
