If you’re a fan of Taiwanese girl group S.H.E, you’d probably know how much Selina Jen, Hebe Tien and Ella Chen love dogs. Sadly, our furkids don’t live forever.

When Ella’s pug, Qiang Qiang, passed away in 2007, she wrote a song dedicated to her pooch. When Selina’s 15-year-old toy poodle, Pinky, passed on last year, Selina was inconsolable and even believed that her pet had returned to visit her. FYI: Selina still uses an image of Pinky as her profile pic on social media.

Which brings us to this very sad piece of news. It was reported yesterday (May 8) that Hebe’s 16-year-old adopted stray, Tien Beng, has crossed the rainbow bridge too.

1 of 3 As sweet as dessert

While Hebe has yet to announce the passing of her beloved pooch on social media, her fans have taken to Weibo to pay tribute to their idol's pet, writing: Tian Beng has gone on to be a little angel .

According to Apple Daily, Tien Beng had suffered from seizures on May 3 but despite receiving emergency medical treatment, she couldn’t be revived and passed away on May 5.

Now fans of Hebe are feeling worried for the singer as Mother's Day is just around the corner and Hebe has always referred to Tien Beng as her daughter . Sources close to Hebe say that the singer is overcome with grief now.

Tien Beng was adopted by Hebe in 2004, after the singer chanced upon the stray at Jian Guo Weekend Flower Market. It was Selina who named the pooch Tien Beng, as “Tien” is Hebe’s surname and “Beng” is the Chinese word for “bon”, which means 'sweet' in Japanese. When put together, the name is sorta like a pun on “dessert”.

2 of 3 Rest in peace, Tien Beng

According to Hebe, Tien Beng was very observant and didn't like taking pictures. Apple Daily also said that Hebe had left Tien Beng in the care of her parents towards the end of the dog's life as Tien Beng's health had deteriorated 'cos of old age and needed people to care for her constantly. Despite her busy schedule, Hebe would make a trip to her parents' place in Hsinchu to visit Tien Beng whenever she has free time.

It is my honour to raise Tien Beng. She is a gift from heaven to our family,” Hebe, who has another dog, a 13-year-old toy poodle named Gou Gou, once said.

Her fans have also taken to social media console Hebe, writing: Don't be sad, Tien Beng is now in heaven playing with Qiang Qiang and Pinky.
