HK Host Maria Leitao, Who’s The Ex-Girlfriend Of Ekin Cheng, Tony Leung Ka-Fai & Jordan Chan, Says Everyone Who Dated Her Went On To Be Successful

Luck be a lady?

Hongkong host Maria Leitao has an impressive list of ex-boyfriends. Or should we say list of impressive ex-boyfriends? Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Ekin Cheng, Jordan Chan and Max Cheung have all dated the 55-year-old in the past.

Maria, whose late aunt was casino king Stanley Ho’s first wife, has a career-spanning almost 40 years and is regarded as one of the best hosts in Hongkong.

Her 2012 talk show Telling Maria, where she interviewed past best actor winners from Andy Lau to Donnie Yen and Louis Koo to Anthony Wong was a smash hit.

Two of her guests were her ex-boyfriends Tony and Ekin, and that didn’t go unnoticed by viewers. The media went on to cast a spotlight on Maria’s dating history, with netizens expressing how impressed they were by the calibre of the men she has dated.

Recently, Maria was a guest on a talk show and the subject of her famous exes was brought up.

Maria, who doesn’t shy away from talking about her past relationships, shared that she has never felt awkward working with her exes after they break up. “Why should it be awkward? Even before Telling Maria, I was an entertainment reporter and I would interview them at events. It was never a problem because we didn’t break up on bad terms and we remained friends,” she said.

The host then mentioned that men who received Maria’s “blessing” — he was referring to her exes — all went on to achieve great fame and have successful careers.

Her response? “This I strongly agree with! I have never openly admitted to dating Jordan but you can say that those who have been with me really became very popular!”

Maria was then asked if she only likes good-looking guys. Upon hearing that, she laughed before saying that she used to be more superficial when she was younger and placed physical appearance before everything else.

She got to know the actor when she was 16. He was nine years older and her first love. They broke up after dating for more than a year and Maria said it was because of their age difference.

She dated Jordan on the sly when he was still a member of short-lived ’90s boyband Wind Sea Fire. The couple never spoke about their relationship to the media until many years later.

It’s said that it was through Maria’s connections that Jordan got his first movie role. He was cast in the 1994 movie Twenty Something, and was named Best Supporting Actor at the Hongkong Film Awards in 1995.

She went out with the Hongkong actor for eight years. In 1998, he was almost paralysed in a serious car crash and it’s said that she was the one who nursed him back to health. However, they broke up two years later.

Her last known relationship was to actor Max Cheung, who is 12 years her junior. They dated for nine years and broke up in 2012.

According to Maria, their age difference had nothing to do with the split. In fact, Max wanted to make it official but Maria does not believe in marriage.

“I didn’t want to hold him back, so breaking up was the right thing to do and it was a nice way to end things,” she said.
