Hongkong Singer Maria Cordero’s Husband Passes Away From Lung Cancer

Veteran Hongkong star Maria Cordero’s husband, Rick da Silva, passed away yesterday morning (Nov 5) after a three-year battle with lung cancer.
The 66-year-old singer-actress, who is affectionately known as Fei Ma, revealed the sad news on Facebook, writing “My love, RIP. See you in heaven.”
Maria and Rick, who is Portuguese, were married for 21 years.
Rick’s passing took many by surprise as he was just discharged from the hospital a week ago. Many netizens left messages of condolences and support for Fei Ma, telling her to “take care” and “stay strong”.
“Ah ma, I was very sad when I heard the news. May Rick RIP. Take care and love you,” wrote actor Luk Ho Ming.
When Rick was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, Maria tried to treat his condition with diet therapy. He had to go to the hospital frequently for treatment and she once revealed that the medical expenses had cost her over HK$6mil (S$1.05mil).
His condition later improved, however, in August this year, he was hospitalised again due to pneumonia and a blockage in his blood vessel. Then, Maria said she spent three weeks in the ward taking care of her husband. Sadly, he would pass away just a week after he was discharged.
