Huawei Founder’s 23-Year-Old Daughter, Who Is A Harvard Grad, Is Now A Pop Star
She's not just Huawei's Princess , or so she says.
Last August, there were rumours that the daughters of three influential Chinese billionaires were forming a girl group together. The young women were: Alice Ho, youngest daughter of the late casino magnate Stanley Ho, Donna Yuan, whose father is Sanpower chairman Yuan Yafei, and Annabel Yao, the younger daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei.
As it turns out, there was some truth to the rumour because Annabel has just released her first single, ‘Back Fire'.
Annabel, who is 23, graduated from Harvard University last year with a degree in Computer Science. She’s been an avid dancer since she was a child, and started ballet lessons at age five.
In an interview with the Chinese media, Annabel said that people would call her 'Huawei’s Princess'.
“Some people asked me why I can’t just be a good girl and [not do this],” she shared. “I’m very lucky to be born into a good family and I'm grateful to my parents for everything they’ve done for me. However, I think everyone has a different definition of a princess, so I don’t think of myself as one. I believe in working hard towards attaining my dreams.”
Annabel also admitted that she’s receiving a lot more attention than the average rookie because of her background. However, she sees this as a double-edged sword.
“There will be higher expectations of me, so I have to work even harder to do better than everyone else. That’s the only way to reach the standards that others have of me.”
