Action superstar Jackie Chan’s affair with Hongkong actress Elaine Ng will go down as one of the most talked-about scandals in Asian showbiz. 21 years later, the affair and drama that ensued, still continue to intrigue.

Over the years, there has been speculation about why Elaine, 47, decided to give birth to their love child Etta Ng, who turned 21 earlier this month. There was even talk that she did so because she wanted a piece of Jackie's vast fortune.

1 of 2 Elaine's manager wants to put an end to rumours

On Wednesday (Nov 25), Elaine’s manager Ah Wen posted a video on Weibo to address the various speculations and put an end to them once and for all. Speaking on behalf of Elaine, he rubbished the rumours, saying: “If this was indeed her intention, she would have taken action before Etta turned 18.”

As for the Etta’s Chinese name Wu Zhuo Lin, which was perceived as “Wu Qi Li (Elaine’s Chinese name) triumphs over Lin Feng Jiao (Jackie’s wife) , there isn’t any ulterior meaning behind the moniker.

“Elaine liked the wife of a national leader (Deng Xiaoping's wife Zhuo Lin) very much, so she picked a similar sounding name,” explained Ah Wen. “You media are really creative.”

He continued: “I hope everyone will spare her. Please don’t write anything baseless.”

2 of 2 Things are still frosty between Elaine and Etta

Ah Wen also gave an update on the estranged relationship between mother and daughter. On Etta’s 21st birthday on November 19, Elaine seemingly extended an olive branch to the latter when she got Ah Wen to send birthday greetings on her behalf. However, Etta only blue-ticked the messages and didn't reply them.

Ah Wen added that Elaine respects that her daughter is grown up and has her own life, and now that she has “fulfilled her duty as a mother”, it’s time for her to make her showbiz comeback.

“For the past 20 years, Elaine has devoted herself to taking care of her family and has fulfilled her duty as a mother, said Ah Wen. Now, she is returning to her role as an actress. In future, we will put more time and effort into her acting career. We are also working on her new book and art exhibition.
