Jay Chou was scheduled to perform at Hongkong Disneyland on December 6 to 8 and 13 to 15 as part of his Carnival World Tour. But his fans were left sorely disappointed when the concert’s organiser released a statement on Tuesday (Nov 19), announcing the postponement of the star’s gigs. By then, tickets for all six shows have been snapped up.
Citing the “uncertainties and possible interruption of public transport”, which we assume is caused by the ongoing Hongkong protests, as the main reason, the organiser also stated in their Facebook post that they “apologise for any inconvenience the postponement may have caused”.

“This is not an easy decision to make, but after consulting the relevant parties, we see this is the best in the interest of public safety. We are now working full force on the rescheduled concert and we shall have further notice by [the] end of January 2020 when we have the details ready,” they wrote.
Jay has also released a statement through his management, telling fans to respect the decision of the organiser.
Luckily, his fans were understanding. “Thank you for the arrangement. No matter how long it takes, I’ll be willing to wait, as long as [the concert] is not cancelled” a fan wrote.

Jay's concert was not the only one affected by the ongoing unrest. Big music festivals in Hongkong such as Clockenflap and the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival have been cancelled, while the Mnet Asian Music Awards, aka one of K-pop's biggest music awards shows, will be staged in Nagoya instead.
In fact, the concerts of other stars like Chinese singer Ding Dang, Taiwanese singers Xiao Bing Chih, Cheer Chen and Wang Leehom have all been cancelled. However, Taiwanese band Cosmos People decided to postpone their concert from October 6 to December 19, in hopes that the protests will die down by then. Even so, the band is not entirely sure if their concert will happen.
“We are still in talks with the organiser,” the band said.
Despite the cancellation of those shows, Eason Chan and Andy Lau have yet to announce any updates on their upcoming concerts. So fingers crossed for music lovers in Hongkong.
Update: As of yesterday (Nov 21), Eason has cancelled all 25 shows of his Fear and Dreams concert in Hongkong.
