Jay Chou Is Selling His Tamsui Townhouse For S$2.7Mil
Reports claim it's ‘cos his latest movie exceeded its initial budget by S$4.7mil.
Less than a week after Taiwanese star Jay Chou was reported to have met with billionaire tycoon Lin Ming-hsiung to discuss a big business proposal, reports are claiming that Jay has listed one of his many properties — a hulking townhouse in Tamsui for NT$58mil (S$2.7mil).
The townhouse, which was built 12 years ago, is located in Section 2 of Zhongzheng Road, and is part of the Dutch Bay Resorts townhouse complex. The complex boasts multiple townhouses, all of which were inspired by European architecture styles.
Jay’s townhouse is five stories high, and comes with three bedrooms, six living rooms, five bathrooms, and an underground garage, as well as two separate entrances. The entire space measures around 8041 sq ft, and comes with its own lift too.
According to reports, this was the townhouse that Jay and his wife, Hannah Quinlivan, lived in while they were dating, with Jay even filming one of his many music videos here.
But why is Jay suddenly listing this townhouse for sale?
Well, a number of media outlets are speculating that it could be due to the fact that Jay’s latest movie, Nezha, exceeded its initial filming budget. The racing film, which is produced by Jay and stars Hannah, was initially supposed to take two months to shoot. However, the principal photography was extended to six months.
The film’s producer also revealed recently that the film exceeded its initial budget of NT$200mil (S$9.4mil) by NT100mil(S$4.7mil), due in part to the delayed wrap date.
When reached for a comment, however, Jay’s label, JVR Music, declined to “comment on our artiste’s private affairs”.
