Liu Shishi Gets Hate For Spending CNY With Husband Nicky Wu In Taiwan Instead Of With Her Parents In China

Fans — or should we say “fans” — are slamming her and calling her “cold-blooded”.

When a public figure gets chastised and accused of being “cold-blooded”, you’d probably expect them to have done something really bad like, say, abandon their children or be a cheating, abusive spouse.

In Liu Shishi’s case, however, all the Chinese actress did was… spend time with her family.

1 of 4 Say what?

Well, with her husband Nicky Wu’s family, to be precise.

The couple, who registered their marriage in 2015 and welcomed a son in 2019, reportedly travelled to Taiwan to celebrate Chinese New Year in Nicky’s hometown. No big deal, right?

Not quite. For some inane reason, this really pissed off a number of Shishi’s fans (or should we say “fans”), who accused the 33-year-old of neglecting her own parents back in China.

According to their ‘logic’, this is unacceptable ‘cos Shishi is an only child, while Nicky, 50, has two brothers.

2 of 4 Like that also can

“Your father and mother raised you for 20 years, yet you ended up sticking to your husband like a ‘human pendant’ in Taiwan. You would rather spend Chinese New Year with your mother-in-law who did not give birth to you instead of your own parents. The only explanation is that you are too cold-blooded. You are really something!” read one particularly incensed comment.

Other snarky remarks include “She couldn’t possibly be expecting her parents to fly to Taiwan to see her, right?” and “Now this is the real her. I hate her so much!”.

Wow, who hurt these people?

3 of 4 Yikes

Fortunately, Shishi still has her supporters. They pointed out Nicky could have flown to Beijing to spend Chinese New Year with Shishi’s parents there last year, so it was simply her ‘turn’ to visit his folks this year.

They also think it’s extremely unfair — a bit of an understatement — how she’s being subjected to such vile, baseless criticism.

However, more discerning folks suspect that the sudden resentment towards Shishi may have to do with something else completely, such as the fact that her acting skills have allegedly been “deteriorating” and that she’s “not taking her job seriously”. Not a valid reason to be so spiteful, but okay.

In any case, we think haters should tread carefully when posting anything negative about Shishi. After all, she once won a defamation lawsuit against a netizen who spread horrible rumours about her and was fined over S$8,000.

Not very worth it now, is it?
