Lydia Sum’s Daughter Joyce Cheng Posts Pic With Stunning Stepsister
Who says they are not close?
For years, many have focused on the relationship between Joyce Cheng, whose mum is the late comedian Lydia Sum, and her dad Adam Cheng. The actor, who split up with Lydia when Joyce was eight months old, went on to marry actress Koon Jing Wah, whom he has two daughters with.
While it was alleged that Joyce had chosen not to contact her dad much over the years as she did not want to “disturb” his life with his new family, painting a picture that she’s estranged from Adam, Joyce’s latest social media post disproves all that.
On November 22, Joyce, 33, uploaded this selfie (see above) with 30-year-old Winnie Cheng, who is Adam’s older daughter with Jing Wah. The media soon picked up on the photo, writing that the stepsisters bear a striking resemblance to each other and that they both give off the same “Caucasian girl vibe”. They also noted that Joyce and Winnie seem to be very pally and not as distant from each other as many thought they were.
Joyce once revealed in an interview that she used to harbour resentment towards her dad until someone she respected told her that Adam really does love her but he just doesn’t know how to express it. After that, Joyce changed her attitude towards her dad and their relationship has improved substantially in recent years. Not only do they talk about each other more in interviews, Adam was also a guest at Joyce’s concert in Hongkong in 2018.
According to sources close to the family, Joyce is also on very good terms with Jing Wah and her younger daughter 27-year-old Wing-hei, and she would have dinners at Adam’s place every festive occasion.
