Hongkong actress Athena Chu has made the internet fawn over her age-defying looks once again. The 48-year-old (she turns 49 in October), who charmed viewers in the ‘90s with her beauty, recently posted a video of herself ‘morphing’ seamlessly into her character from the two-part fantasy classic A Chinese Odyssey, and netizens are amazed at how little she has changed.

FYI, the films were released in 1995 — twenty five years ago. That’s also the same year she starred in local telemovie Cupid Love opposite Chen Hanwei.

The short clip, which was created using a filter on Douyin (China’s version of TikTok), reportedly garnered almost 330,000 (330,000!) comments from netizens, many of whom praised her for still looking as good as she did in her 20s. One Hongkong media outlet even hilariously described her as someone who looks like she has “eaten preservatives”. Um, guess she should take that as a compliment?

The comments from fans were much more straightforward, with remarks like “We’ve suddenly been taken back to that moment” and “an eternal goddess”.

We’re impressed too. So, what’s your secret, Athena? (And no, we really don’t think it has anything to do with “eating preservatives”.)
