Moses Chan Moved To A S$17K-A-Month Home So It’d Be Easier For His Kids To Go To The Singapore International School

Most of us probably know parents who willingly relocated to a new neighbourhood just so their kids could be closer to their school of choice. And as it turns out, stars aren’t spared from this ‘phenomenon’ either.

Over the Chinese New Year period, fans got a glimpse of Moses Chan and Aimee Chan’s lovely new home, which they moved into in early January with their three adorable children.

Hongkong media have since uncovered more details about the place, and to no one’s surprise, it doesn’t come cheap.

According to reports, the Chan residence is a 204 sqm luxury abode that sets the couple back HK$100,000 (S$17,000) a month in rent. That is quite a bit more than what they were paying for their previous home, which was said to be HK$70,000 (S$12,000) a month.

The reason the family first moved to the previous place was so that they could cut short the travelling time to the Singapore International School, where their eldest son Aiden Joshua, seven, has been enrolled in since 2017.

However, Moses and Aimee felt that their children would need more space as they grow up, so they moved again to a bigger — and more expensive — house in the same estate, which means it will still be convenient for them to get to the school.

Those who intend to send their kids to the Singapore International School should be prepared to spend a very pretty penny, specifically: HK$83,000 (S$14,400) per annum for the Preparatory Years programme, HK$131,200 (S$22,700) per annum for Primary 1 to 6, HK$164,500 (S$28,500) per annum for Secondary 1 to 4, and HK$198,800 (S$34,400) per annum for Diploma Programme Years 1 and 2.

By the way, that doesn’t even cover various additional charges like the HK$2,500 (S$433) application fee and HK$13,000 (S$2,300) entrance fee.

On top of all that, there is also a Personal Debenture or Corporate Debenture, which are typically used to fund the school’s running costs and are priced at HK$200,000 (S$34,700) and HK$500,000 (S$86,600) respectively. The Personal Debenture can be redeemed after the student leaves the school or be transferred to a sibling.

Since it’s believed that Moses and Aimee are also planning for their younger children, six-year-old Nathan Lucas and four-year-old Camilla, to study there… well, let’s just say we can totally see why Moses is willing to leave his family for two months to work (and presumably earn big bucks) in China.

The Singapore International School is actually a very popular choice among celebrities. Other high-profile students or alumni include Vicki Zhao’s daughter April, Simon Yam’s daughter Ella, Francis Ng’s son Feynman, Richie Jen’s kids Cody and Rati, and Benz Hui’s daughter Charmaine.
