Just two days ago (Oct 16), a netizen revealed on Weibo that a female singer who kicked her fan is preparing for divorce . It was a not-at-all subtle jibe at Chinese pop diva Na Ying who recently made headlines for kicking a fan. The whistleblower also welcomed anyone to criticise him if they can prove that it is fake news.

1 of 3 Na Ying married Meng Tong in 2006, and she gave birth to their daughter in 2007.

Despite there being no evidence of the supposed divorce, the rumour is still fast gaining ground online because the netizen is said to be a credible source due to his verified Weibo account.

It was just a matter of time before other anti-fans took it a step further by spreading baseless rumours about Na Ying's husband, Meng Tong, who is a club owner.

They accused him of being a philanderer who relies on Na Ying to bring home the bacon, and added that the reason for Na Ying’s appearance on variety shows, like Sing! China, is so she can earn more money for her husband . Even worse, they've also started calling him scumbag .

Upon hearing the rumours, the very feisty star took matters into her own hands and, um, kicked into action by posting a lengthy statement on Weibo to rubbish the rumours.

“There are some online articles defaming my family that have been spreading on major websites and they have caused ridiculous speculation and criticism” she wrote. “This has not only caused great harm to me and my family, but also to my friends who are worried.”

Na Ying also said that her friends had told her to just ignore the rumours, which she would have if it was just directed at her. But because the allegations involved her family members, she decided that she would not take it lying down.

“As a wife and a mother, I can't remain silent anymore... I can't let this bullying continue,” she said, threatening to sue whoever started the rumour. “I have decided to ask a lawyer to preserve all evidence and to retain the right to resort to legal action,” she warned.

Why should we allow ourselves to be used by all these cheap and lowly remarks? she said, adding that she hopes her message will appeal to the kindness of netizens.

First it was Annie Yi taking legal action against netizens who called her three-year-old daughter ugly', and now this. Guess the stars are finally standing up to nasty online trolls. And about time, we must say.
