Following news of Ng Man Tat’s death, celebs and fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late star.

The 70-year-old passed away on February 27 after a brief battle with liver cancer and his funeral will take place on March 8.

A few days ago, a netizen shared some heartwarming photos of Man Tat and his Malaysian wife Hou Shan Yan in memory of the actor.

One of the pics showed the couple out shopping, while another was of them having a meal at an eatery.

The netizen said that Man Tat would often accompany his wife for coffee and they were very sweet to each other, like an old married couple.

He also posted a pic of Man Tat with China's 'SARS hero', respiratory disease expert Zhong Nanshan on the high-speed rail last year.

Though the netizen was lucky enough to bump into Man Tat several times, he regretted not having the courage to approach the actor for a photo and hence only had paparazzi-like snaps of him.

Man Tat met Shan Yan, who hails from Johor Bahru, in 1993 when he was filming was All's Well, Ends Well Too, in Singapore. At that time he was still married to his first wife Mak Lei Lei. The pair divorced a year later and he married Shan Yan in 1996. They have a daughter and son, aged 25 and 18 respectively.

He also has three other daughters, two from his first marriage and another from a relationship with former actress Lo Siu Chi.

According to Apple Daily, Man Tat only found out he had terminal liver cancer in January.

He was scheduled to undergo heart surgery in Macau after suffering severe chest pains during a photoshoot last year, and under the advice of the doctor, he decided to undergo a thorough health check.

He was found to have a tumor on his adrenal gland and was immediately transferred to a Hongkong hospital for treatment after doctors told him that the cancer had not only spread but was also terminal.

His condition was reportedly under control after the second round of chemotherapy and Man Tat was confident that he would be discharged.

However, his condition took a turn for the worse and he was transferred to the intensive care unit on February 27. The cancer had spread to other organs leading to organ failure and he passed away in his sleep that same day.
