Chinese actress Yang Mi was recently announced as lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret's newest Asian spokesperson.

“To me, a sexy and charming woman is someone who is independent and confident,” said the actress in a video for the campaign. “Every woman has their own unique way of expressing this, and sexiness is something that you’re born with. At home, [a woman] can be like a fluffy cat, but when the time comes, she can also transform into a warrior. She puts on her armour and carries a weapon to defend herself.”

1 of 2 Oozing confidence

She continued, “After becoming an actress, I’ve never thought about wanting to do anything else, and I’ve been focusing all my energy to the jobs that I take on. That’s when I think I’m the most charming. Women who admit that they are sexy are very brave. Whether or not people like [what I think about myself] or not is none of my concern. Not bowing to pressure is sexiness.”

While most netizens have raved about the 33-year-old's new gig, there are some who feel that the actress is, well, not VS material.

2 of 2 Looking good

“Does she not feel ashamed when she compares her body to other Victoria's Secret models?” one wrote. Another added, “She’s not voluptuous enough for this. Couldn't they have picked someone who fits their brand image better?”

Thankfully, there were other netizens who proved that there are still reasonable people on the internet. “She’s a spokesperson, not a model. Her campaign is to empower women, yet you’re dragging her down because she doesn’t meet your personal beauty standards,' said one such netizen.
