Chinese stars Zhao Liying, 33, and Feng Shaofeng, 42, shocked everyone when they announced their divorce in April, after less than three years of marriage.

Shaofeng and Liying tied the knot in October 2018, a month after the latter was spotted in public with a baby bump.

Cracks started appearing in their relationship as early as 2019, when Shaofeng was rumoured to have had an affair.

The actor would later say in an interview that he sometimes wondered if Liying was with him because of love, insinuating that he felt as though she might have married him only because she had gotten pregnant.

After their divorce, the internet went wild with conspiracy theories over what caused the split. It was all quickly shot down by the couple who revealed that they had simply drifted apart because they didn’t spend enough time together.

The couple will also share custody of their now two-year-old son.

Even though the breakup is “amicable”, netizens noticed that Shaofeng has been looking a little worse for wear.

Earlier this week, Shaofeng made his first public appearance since his divorce at the press conference for his new drama, and netizens commented about how “haggard” he looked, adding that the actor “has aged 10 years in the span of two months”.

Some even went as far as to say that “his eyes look like they’ve lost their spark”, and that “he must be taking the divorce really hard”.

On the other hand, netizens are saying that Liying “is absolutely glowing” after her divorce. One netizen even said that the actress “looks like she’s been waiting to claim back her singlehood for a long time”.

Sadly, some netizens have resorted to calling Liying heartless for getting over the divorce so quickly. However, those haters were quickly reminded by other netizens that female celebrities are often held to unreasonably high standards of beauty, and that Liying has no choice but to take look good all the time regardless of how sad she is about the split.
