Chinese pop idol and member of Korean boyband EXO, Lay Zhang, has been the face of American fashion brand Calvin Klein for two years. The 29-year-old was announced as the Chinese global ambassador for Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear back in 2019.

And of course, as the ambassador of an underwear line, there’s bound to be juicy pictures ‘cos well, it’s underwear.

His fans and netizens have been more than satisfied with his past shoots for Calvin Klein but his latest one has placed the star in a hairy situation... quite literally.

A new series of pictures featuring Lay was released recently and plastered all over Calvin Klein stores in China. However, a number of netizens were not pleased at all, with some going online to air their grievances.

“Not only is the pose weird, the copious amount of leg and armpit hair is a big turn-off,” one netizen wrote, while another netizen commented: “I don’t even dare to look at the billboard when I walk past it”.

Some others also offered up a number of suggestions for the brand, writing that Calvin Klein should consider doing a reshoot, or at the very least digitally remove Lay’s body hair from the current pics.

However, there are some very vocal fans of the pictures too.

“Only those with leg hair can be considered a real man,” one netizen wrote, while another commented: “[Lay’s] showing the whole world the true charm of Chinese men, instead of projecting an effeminate image.”

Now didn't that escalate quickly considering we’re talking about an underwear shoot here.
