Veteran Hongkong actor Ng Man Tat's health has been dealt with another blow.

The 69-year-old is reportedly seriously ill and has been admitted to the oncology ward of a hospital in Hongkong.

His good pal, actor Tin Kai Man, told the Ming Pao Daily News that Man Tat was diagnosed with liver cancer late last year and had been receiving treatment in Macau.

He said Man Tat contacted him after his surgery to tell him that “the worst is over” and that he is now undergoing chemotherapy.

Though he did not visit him in hospital, he heard from friends that the cancer is now under control and Man Tat is fine.

He is a bit down because he can't speak and can only communicate using his hands. He is also weak from chemotherapy. I did not visit him in hospital as I'm afraid that I would be too emotional and I also do not want to disturb him,” said Kai Man.

He added that Man Tat has put his work on hold and that his family is with him in Hongkong.

Earlier this month, a video of him clutching his chest in pain on the set of a shoot went viral online, sparking concerns about his health.

In 2000, the veteran actor was diagnosed with diabetes and later suffered from heart failure in 2014.

During a recent appearance on a Chinese variety show, Man Tat revealed that he “has not fully recovered” from his health scare in 2014, and thought he was about to die at one point.
