Wu Wei Lun, the low-key son of late Hongkong comedian Ng Man Tat (or Wu Meng Da in Mandarin), made an appearance in front of the media at his father’s funeral earlier this year, giving the public a very rare glimpse of the elusive 19-year-old.

He even greeted reporters with a smile — you know, just to be polite — but that only earned the poor boy unnecessarily cruel attacks by keyboard warriors, who chided him for daring to show a happy expression at such a solemn event. Uh, seriously?

On the other hand, Wei Lun also gained a legion of admirers thanks to his good looks.

Recently, fan accounts dedicated to the handsome teen were discovered to be popping up all over Weibo, and the pages often have names such as “Wu Wei Lun’s Girlfriend”, “Wu Wei Lun’s Wife”, and “Wu Wei Lun’s Beloved Fan”. No point being subtle about it, we guess.

Some netizens were even found to be using the paparazzi-taken shots of Wei Lun at Man Tat’s funeral as their profile pictures and writing passionate declarations like, “I don’t like anyone else. I will always like Wu Wei Lun and that will not change.”

According to reports, Wei Lun was keen on following in his dad’s footsteps and becoming an actor, with an artiste management company once expressing interest in signing him on.

However, he lacked confidence in his own abilities, but judging from the support he managed to garner just by showing his face in public, he probably won’t have much trouble finding popularity as a star.

Wei Lun is Man Tat’s younger child with his Malaysian wife Hou Shan Yan, with whom he has a daughter as well. The veteran actor also has three older daughters: two with his ex-wife Mak Lei Lei, and one with former actress Lo Siu Chi.

Man Tat passed away at the age of 70 on February 27 following a battle with liver cancer.
