Taiwanese singer Rainie Yang recently held a press conference to announce the release of her latest song, ‘Like A Star’, and she fielded questions from the media like the seasoned pro she is. We mean, she has been in the business for 20 years after all, and is celebrating that milestone this year.

The 36-year-old, who tied the knot with Chinese singer Li Ronghao just last year, has been vocal thus far about just how much she misses her beau.

Unfortunately, Rainie and Ronghao, who’re based in Taiwan and China respectively, have found it nearly impossible to meet each other, no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike fellow star-crossed lovers, Taiwanese singer Vivian Hsu and Singapore-based businessman Sean Lee, Rainie and Ronghao just can’t seem to make a reunion happen, and they've got their super-busy work schedules to blame for that.

Rainie shared that during the initial stages of their 'forced separation’, she’d cry whenever they found the time to chat to each other.

“However, [Ronghao’s] more rational than I am, once he sees me crying, he’ll comfort me jokingly by saying, ‘It's fine, it’s fine, I’m still doing perfectly well’,” Rainie said.

Eventually, the couple’s work schedules got increasingly packed, making it hard for them to even send a text message to each other. But this doesn’t mean that their relationship has grown stagnant in any way.

According to Rainie, the couple has their own way of maintaining their LDR.

“Both parties must be mature emotionally, and they both shouldn’t be the type to remain idle. Even if they aren’t busy at work, they should be able to organise their personal time well. Next, what’s important is that the couple’s hearts should be very close to the other, [in our case], our relationship has managed to stay fresh so far,” she said.

Rainie then goes on to estimate that the earliest she and Ronghao will be able to reunite in person would be next year. “It's not a matter of seeing whether the travel restrictions are relaxed or not. Once we factor in the time needed for [the mandatory two week] quarantine, we’ll be unable to connect our respective work schedules. It’s not that we don’t want to think of a way to work this out, but rather it’s ‘cos we find it really important to maintain this [separate] environment for now, she said.

Separation aside, it appears that the couple’s managed to sneak in some time together while working anyway, with Ronghao credited as the composer and lyricist of ‘Like A Star’.

Finally, Rainie also shared her thoughts about her good friend and fellow celeb Wilber Pan’s much-panned marriage announcement.

“He's someone who’s very particular about his privacy, it’s not that he intentionally set out to conceal this information. He really didn’t intend to cheat anyone, or announce this so suddenly. You guys should know as well, from the moment he started in showbiz till now, he’s never liked talking about his love life. But at this point in time, he’s sharing this with everyone, as a friend, of course I’ll give him my utmost blessings!” she said.
