Hongkong actor Raymond Lam has been dating Chinese model Carina Zhang for over a year and we suppose things are going so well between the couple that he has put a ring on it. Or rather, he has filed for marriage registration. After a photo of their marriage registration license was published by Hongkong gossip rag Oriental Sunday, Raymond acknowledged the good news saying: “Thank you all for your blessings.” It’s now rumoured that their wedding will be held on December 8, which just happens to be Raymond’s 40th birthday though some sources say that the celebration happening that day is actually the actor’s fan club party.

According to sources, the 29-year-old Carina, who got her start in showbiz after coming in second at a national lingerie competition, is well-liked by Raymond’s family. Which is a big thing. In case you don’t know, the actor hails from a wealthy family — his property developer dad is regarded as the ‘Li Ka-shing of Xiamen’ — and they haven’t always been too welcoming of his past girlfriends. His parents reportedly weren’t too fond of his ex, Hongkong actress Karena Ng, who they felt was taking advantage of Raymond.

But his folks apparently love Carina — isn’t it strange to date someone whose name is so similar to your ex’s? But we digress. And in January this year, she accompanied Raymond back to his ancestral home in Xiamen to pay respects to his ancestors and to meet his elders.

And unlike his showy relationship with Karena, he and Carina have resisted the urge to publicise their love for each other on social media, much to the delight of his low-profile parents. Carina also reportedly takes good care of Raymond and often cooks for him. At least, that’s what we assume from her pics on Instagram.

It’s Carina’s thoughtfulness that’s reportedly the reason Raymond’s mum dotes on her. According to reports, Raymond is now busy filming TVB drama Line Walker 3 and has no time to go wedding gown shopping with Carina. No biggie though. His mum is more than happy to say yes to the dress with her future daughter-in-law and a source revealed that Carina already has three custom-made wedding dresses — one white, one red and one champagne-coloured mermaid bridal gown. And…. they were all paid for by Mama Lam.
