Hongkong pop diva Sammi Cheng, 47, has always said that her parents are her inspiration to do better.

In 2017, after her dad suffered a stroke, Sammi decided to move her parents into an apartment closer to her so she could visit more often.

Reports at that time revealed that Sammi's parents had moved to an apartment in Ridge Court, which is located in the upscale Repulse Bay district that's known for it's sky-high property prices.

It's said that the apartment was bought by Sammi’s husband, Hongkong singer-actor Andy Hui and that the couple had added in elder-friendly mobility aids when they were renovating the place.

Recently, Sammi shared some pictures she had taken with her mum during one of her recent visits.

“Today I paid my parents a visit, [and] my mum shared that she has been practising her writing every day. She’s over 80, and still finding ways to enrich her life, wrote Sammi.

“I sincerely admire my mum’s positive outlook [when it comes to life]. Even though her body’s condition is declining with each day, she’s still motivated and actively searching for ways to have fun. My mum’s my role model, forever,” she added.

According to reports, Sammi’s mum developed shingles around her waist last October. At the same time, her dad also fell ill and was hospitalised for further examination. So Sammi took time off from work and divided her time between her parents' home and the hospital until her mum and dad both recovered from their respective health scares.

[When your] parents are old, they need us more than ever mentally and physically. Material goods are of little significance to elderly parents. Both you and I need to love and treasure them while they're still around, she wrote then.
