Hongkong actor Shawn Yue, 39, and his wife, Taiwanese model Sarah Wang, 32, went through a very difficult period last year when their daughter Celest was born prematurely at 28 weeks.

Shawn and Sarah, who also have a three-year-old son named Cody, held back from announcing her birth as they weren’t sure if their baby would survive.

Shawn recently penned an emotional letter detailing the three months Celest spent fighting for her life in the hospital.

“Daddy’s tears fell the first time I saw you, wrote Shawn. I was worried for you, and I felt the pain you were going through. You had to go through such a huge challenge from the moment that you were born.”

“If I could, I would have traded places with you and suffered in your place,” Shawn added. “In the three months that you were in the hospital, I realised that the heavens were very kind to us as you crossed hurdle after hurdle. Today, seeing you happy and healthy makes daddy very happy and relieved. You’re an angel [that was sent to] your mummy and I. Love you, Celest.”

Shawn also shared two photos of his daughter, a recent one of her sitting in a baby chair, and a heartbreaking snap that was taken when she was in the hospital.

Sarah previously shared that she blamed herself for Celest's premature birth as she had been “complacent” during the pregnancy.

She had to be put on hospital bed rest and was beside herself when her water broke at 28 weeks. She was quickly transferred to another hospital where a doctor briefed her about the complications premature babies may face before she was wheeled into the delivery room.

Thankfully, after three months in the hospital, Celest is now safe and healthy and according to the Hongkong media, will be celebrating her first birthday soon.
