Show Luo Finally Speaks Up After Six Days; Tells Netizens To Stop Spreading Rumours About His Mother
This is the first post he’s made online after apologising for his cheating scandal.
As the media frenzy surrounding Taiwanese singer Show Luo and his many uh… extra-curricular activities rage on, it was only a matter of time before some unscrupulous netizens dragged the 40-year-old’s mother, Lin Hsiang Lan, into the fray.
Show has always been known for being super filial. Mama Luo, who’s a frequent face on his socials, had a good relationship with Chinese blogger Grace Chow, who exposed Show’s cheating ways, as well. Grace even referred to Mama Luo as her “mother-in-law” in a series of texts sent to Show in happier times.
So, it came as quite the shock when Taiwanese media began reporting that Show’s mother had given an interview to a media outlet accusing Grace of “wanting to destroy Show” by publicising the details of their breakup.
Yesterday (April 29), an anonymous informant shared a follow-up on the interview, revealing that Show had contacted Grace privately to plead for mercy. He allegedly wanted Grace to stop exposing details of his cheating, 'cos his mother had fallen ill.
On the same day, Show took to his Weibo account, making a post for the first time in six days. His last post was a public apology to Grace.
In his post, which was written in simplified Chinese, Show clarified the reports that his mother was in bad health.
“I'm sorry, I just want to clarify, that my mother is in good health, and she’s not suffering from any major illnesses. Also, my mother definitely did not accept any interview request from the media, neither has she given any quotes [on my cheating scandal]. Please do not attack my mother anymore, thank you everyone,” he wrote.
Show’s post received mixed responses from netizens, with some begrudgingly giving the singer points for stepping up to defend his mother. However, some others were not so impressed.
You see, Grace had mentioned in her breakup letter that she had helped Show with his Weibo posts during their time together, apparently due to Show’s unfamiliarity with simplified Chinese. So, when Show posted in simplified Chinese on his Weibo yesterday, many netizens questioned why the singer saw the need to have Grace write his posts. After all, he seems to be perfectly comfortable with both simplified and traditional Chinese now.
“I don’t think he wrote this post himself,” one skeptical netizen commented, while another wrote, “So, it turns out that you know how to write simplified Chinese too”.
