Show Luo Looks Back On His Scandal-Plagued 2020: “Sometimes, People Unknowingly Become What They Hate”
He’s not going to let what was undoubtedly a very bad year get him down.
Those who have been following the seemingly never-ending headlines about Show Luo would know that, pandemic or no pandemic, the Taiwanese star hasn’t had a good year.
Here’s a brief recap for those who might’ve missed it: back in April, his ex-girlfriend Grace Chow single-handedly wrecked his career and reputation when she released a damning exposé detailing his unfaithfulness and penchant for “multi-player sports” (think about it in an, um, R21 way). Naturally, the public turned their backs on him, and he reportedly lost a number of jobs as well.
The 41-year-old continued to be plagued by relationship scandals throughout the year – well, save for the time earlier this month when his neighbours reported him for illegally building a swimming pool on their apartment rooftop. Then there were the leaked DMs sent from his assistant’s Instagram alleging that Show was “doing it once a week” (hmm, we wonder what) with an influencer, although the assistant later claimed that he had been hacked.
Despite going through what was undoubtedly a very crappy 2020, Show still appears to remain optimistic, judging from his recent introspective post looking back on the past year.
“There’s less than a week left [in the year],” he wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of trees. “All the sadness, frustration, loss, or happiness experienced in 2020 will be things of the past after the year-end countdown. I experienced many different things each day of the year, and started to realise that sometimes, people unknowingly become what they hate. Actually, this is also a part of growth. There is no need to escape it. Face yourself truthfully, and I believe that we can all do it.”
He continued: “To you reading this right now, do you feel the same way? Do you also feel powerless yet unwilling to give up? I believe it’s definitely not easy for you either. Make the right adjustments and preparations to meet your future self. I say to myself and to you: ‘Jiayou. Good night.’”
Show ended his post on a more light-hearted note, saying that he was about to go play a video game while eating fried chicken. He also reminded his followers to “wear a mask and wash your hands often” during this pandemic.
