Song Hye Kyo Finalises Divorce From Song Joong Ki (And Deletes All Traces Of Him From IG)
Their marriage officially ended after a brief court hearing on Monday.
Well, that was quick. While some high-profile divorces take months or even years to be finalised, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s marriage officially came to an end just about four weeks after Joong Ki filed for divorce on June 26. They couple had tied the knot less than two years ago at a grand, star-studded ceremony.
Yesterday (Jul 22), Hye Kyo’s agency UAA released a statement confirming that the former couple’s divorce was finalised at the Seoul Family Court earlier that morning.
The procedure was completed after a hearing that lasted about 20 minutes (some sources claim it only took five), and they both agreed not to pay alimony to each other, nor divide their reported 100bil won (about S$115.7mil) worth of assets. Other than that, no other details of the mediation session will be revealed to the public.
Since then, both parties have dived back into work, with Joong Ki working on a sci-fi blockbuster tentatively titled Victory, and Hye Kyo continuing to make public appearances for the countless brands she endorses.
In a recent interview with a magazine, Hye Kyo shared that she will not be taking on any new acting projects for the rest of the year as she needs time to herself. She also gave a rather interesting quote about how “everything happens at the right time, and for a reason”, not just for her career, but for “every part of [her] life”.
Then, as if to cut ties with her ex even further, Hye Kyo was discovered to have deleted all traces of Joong Ki from her Instagram, including that photo of them on their wedding day, and other cute images of them that were posted to promote Descendants of the Sun.
