Song Hye Kyo will soon start work on her first drama in over two years. The 39-year-old’s last drama was 2018's Encounter.

This will be the actress' first acting project after her high-profile divorce from Song Joong Ki last year. They started dating after working on hit series Descendants of the Sun in 2015 and tied the knot in 2017. But their marriage was short-lived and they filed for divorce less than two years later.

No other details have been released for Hye Kyo’s upcoming drama except that famed scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook and director Ahn Gil Ho will be helming the project.

Eun Sook is the brains behind some of Korea’s biggest dramas, including Descendants of the Sun, Goblin and Mr. Sunshine, while some of Gil Ho’s recent works include Memories of the Alhambra and Record of Youth.

But of course what everyone is most interested in is who will be the actor starring opposite Hye Kyo in her big comeback.

As Eun Sook is known to work with actors she’s cast before, netizens have brought up possible candidates such as Gong Yoo and Lee Jong Suk. Their wish list also includes actors such as So Ji Sub and Won Bin.though they've never worked with the writer before.

Some netizens have also pointed out that actors might be “hesitant” to work with Hye Kyo so soon after her divorce as much of the public attention will be focused on how well she gets along with her leading actor.

One netizen wrote: “She’s admitted to dating at least two other co-stars, Hyun Bin and Lee Byung Hun in the past. Whoever works with her is definitely going to be caught up in relationship rumours with her.”

Another added, “It’s one thing to work with a great producer and scriptwriter, but having to deal with all the negative press that’s surrounding [Hye Kyo] after her divorce means that even an A-lister with a good reputation might end up getting dragged down by her.”
