It's been almost a year since Song Joong Ki finalised his divorce with Song Hye Kyo, so we're not surprised that there are rumours that he's back in the dating game. Yesterday (Jun 11), the internet was set ablaze with goss that the actor is now dating a lawyer. However, SJK's agency, History D&C, has since stepped forward to deny the allegations.
“There have been groundless rumours spreading (…) but after checking [with the actor, the dating rumours] are not true,” they declared. Korean media outlet Star News later carried a statement sharing that the 34-year-old actor would be taking legal action against those who continue to spread the rumours. His reasoning? That the untruths might end up snowballing if he does not take a strong stance against them.
It's unclear how this rumour started or how SJK even met her. And while it was earlier said that some members of Korea's legal circle had circulated personal information about said lawyer on the internet, new reports now claim that the info has been removed.
News outlet SE Daily also ran a story, this time with History D&C saying that Joong Ki and the lawyer are just friends and that the “rumours of a romantic relationship are not true .
But netizens don't seem to be convinced. Some of them pointed out that this behaviour reminds them of what he did when he was trying to keep his relationship with his former wife under wraps. “He denied that he was dating Song Hye Kyo multiple times [and did so] until right before their marriage [announcement]. He threatened legal action the entire time, then he changed his stance overnight and released news about their wedding. I don’t trust any of his statements. He’s a celeb who puts his agency, advertisement deals and himself before his own fans,” seethed one netizen.
Another added, “He threatened to sue when he got married, did so again when he got divorced, and now he’s doing it again when he’s dating a lawyer.”
One netizen then surmised the entire situation with this comment; “Song Joong Ki seems to be always up for a fight.”
