Taiwanese Singer Winnie Hsin Fears Living Alone In Mansion Following Deaths of Alien Huang, Luo Peiying
She has since made a pact with her friends to update them on her safety every day.
Life has been good to Taiwanese singer Winnie Hsin. Best known for classics like ‘Understanding’, ‘Women Shouldn't be Hard on Women’, and ‘Scent’, the chanteuse, who has put the brakes on her career for the past few years, recently returned to spotlight with a concert tour.
During the press conference for the tour, the 58-year-old shared that she moved into her new 330 sqm home in Neihu in April and is enjoying her “carefree” life.
However, as she lives alone, she can’t help but worry about her own safety.
“When Luo Peiying passed away, I was very sad. And when I heard that Alien Huang had died, I was a bit scared. They both lived alone [and passed away at home], so there was a bit of fear,” she said.
Fortunately, Winnie's family members live nearby and for peace of mind, she has made a pact with her friends to update them on her safety every day.
Like many of her peers, Winnie’s jobs were reduced this year due to the pandemic. These days, she spends her time hanging out with friends and busies herself at home, cleaning and pottering around in the garden.
“It feels like early retirement. Although I am just staying at home, every day is very fulfilling,” said Winnie, adding that her house is too big and has to be cleaned over several days.
The house is designed for solo living and she conceptualised it herself. As Winnie had broken her leg during a performance a few years ago, she paid special attention to home safety, opting for non-slip tiles, matte surfaces, and even requested that the interior designer create a barrier-free space.
However, due to its proximity to the mountainous area, she is often greeted by spiders and lizards in the backyard.
At times like this, I would think how good it would be if there were a man in the house, she lamented.
When asked about her love life, Winnie, who admitted that she used to be attracted to younger men, said: “When you reach a certain stage in your life, it is no longer that important anymore.”
Although her friends would set her up when she was younger, she only wanted guys who were good-looking, but now she realises that she was being very frivolous. A real companion is more important, and I care more about the compatibility, she said.
