Malaysia-born TVB actress Vivien Yeo yesterday (Apr 27) announced on Instagram that she had given birth to a baby girl in her home country.

This came as a surprise to many fans as the 35-year-old former beauty queen had kept her pregnancy a secret. Vivien was based in Hongkong, had moved back to Malaysia. However, many fans were under the impression that she was back home temporarily due to the country’s COVID-19 lockdown and that she was staying at home to avoid catching the virus.

She had undergone a C-section to give birth to her daughter, a 2.7kg bundle of joy who is only known as VY (and shares the same initials as Mummy dearest).

Vivien shed some light on what it was like to give birth during Malaysia's movement control order (MCO). She posted: “This year, I can celebrate Mother’s Day as a mother. I received the most precious Mother’s Day gift ahead of time. Because of the pandemic and lockdown in Malaysia, the baby’s birth wasn’t an easy one. There were many last-minute changes and emergencies, but my daughter was born safely and healthily. I would like to thank the medical staff in Malaysia once again for taking care of me. I wish them and frontliners all over the world success in battling this pandemic.

Baby VY is the Johor native's first child with her businessman hubby, Yip Sai Yeung, 38. Just like her pregnancy, Vivien kept her marriage a secret until it was discovered by journos last October.

Details of her relationship are scant, but it’s said that the couple met in 2012 and had gotten married overseas in a secret ceremony at the beginning of 2019.
