TVB stars Stephanie Ho and Fred Cheng got married on November 7, but what made the news wasn't their wedding or how he was engaged to another woman when he first started dating Stephanie. Instead, Hongkong news outlets couldn't stop talking about how Fred is “becoming a millionaire's son-in-law” and how his life is “going through a Cinderella-like transformation”.

You see, Stephanie, 28, is the only child of a very wealthy businessman, who's known only in the media as Mr. Ho. According to reports, the 70-year-old owns a transport and logistics empire that spans the globe and his net worth is said to be at least HK$600mil (S$104mil).

Since they started dating, Fred has been spotted at many of the Ho family's events, Unsurprisingly, it led netizens to pass nasty remarks like how he’s “marrying into the family” and that he's with Stephanie “just for the money”. The actress has since rubbished all that talk in a recent interview, where she also shared that she can't comment on reports of her dad’s net worth 'cos she doesn’t know what it is.

2 of 2 The couple is financially independent, thankyouverymuch

“I hope that my dad can enjoy the money he earned and retire comfortably. Our finances are separate and I earn my own keep. I don’t know if Fred read the tabloids but we aren’t bothered by what the gossip columns write about us,” she added. “Fred and I paid for our wedding out of our own pockets.”
