After retiring from acting in the late noughties, ‘80s Hongkong screen siren Rosamund Kwan shifted her focus to other endeavours, most notably her role as the design director of fashion brand Moiselle. However, like so many other businesses, work has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the 57-year-old has been spending most of her time at home.

Well, if we lived in a place like hers, we definitely wouldn’t be complaining.

On Wednesday (Jun 17), businesswoman Yang Xiaojuan, who is the wife of Hongkong actor Ray Lui, paid Rosamund a visit and shared a photo (see below) of the former actress in her ultra posh living room. The friends were also admiring a double rainbow that had appeared in the sky that day, which Rosamund posted with the caption, “What a lucky sign for HK”.

Now if you’re thinking, “Scenery like that couldn’t have come cheap”, then you are absolutely right. According to reports, she bought the 3,000 sq ft unit in February 2018 for HK$135mil (about S$24.2mil) and spent an undisclosed amount on renovations. She was also personally involved in the interior design.

It is believed that Rosamund’s apartment is located in Tregunter Towers on The Peak, which makes sense considering its lofty views of the Mid-Levels skyline and Victoria Harbour. And it turned out to be a pretty good investment: In just one year after she made the purchase, the value of the property was said to have gone up to HK$150mil (about S$26.9mil), an impressive HK$15mil (S$2.7mil) increase.

No wonder they say the rich only get richer.

While Rosamund doesn’t flaunt her crib on social media, she once invited a photographer to snap some pics, proving that her apartment is really as lavish as its price suggests. In addition to having a bathroom that belongs in a six-star hotel (so much gold!), she also has a 500 sq ft walk-in closet (of course she does).

Rosamund seems to have good instincts — or really good luck — when it comes to real estate investments. In 2007, she splurged HK$113mil (S$20.2mil) on a townhouse in The Nautilus, an exclusive development in Repulse Bay. Its value doubled in three years.

Overall, it is estimated that she has made an eye-watering profit of HK$132mil (S$23.7mil) over a period of seven years, placing her net worth at over HK$500mil (S$89.7mil).
