When Bruneian heartthrob Wu Chun and his wife Lin Liying tied the knot almost 16 years ago, they didn't have a fancy wedding or a romantic shoot or punny hashtags. In fact, they kept such a tight lid on their marriage that poor Liying had to take her wedding photos alone to avoid exposing their relationship and ruining Wu Chun’s career as a Fahrenheit boybander.

Sure enough, fans didn’t take the news very well when he finally came clean in 2013 (especially since he originally claimed that they were married in 2009 instead of 2004), but all has been forgiven, and the 40-year-old is making it up to his wife by giving her the wedding — and yes, the photo shoot — she deserves.

Their journey down the aisle (again) is being documented in a reality series called Before Marriage, and in the latest episode, viewers got to see Wu Chun and Liying directing their own wedding shoot in their spacious backyard, posing for self-timed shots with an iPhone and tripod.

Nine-year-old Neinei and six-year-old Max got to join their mum and dad too, and from the looks of it, the entire family had a whale of a time.

Wu Chun and Liying also had their wedding portraits taken in their living room and in several of the pictures, Liying is wearing a pink cheongsam, which was revealed to be the same one her mother wore at her own wedding 50 years ago. Wu Chun had it slightly altered and presented it to his wife as a surprise gift, and he matched the theme by donning a handsome black Tang suit.

Yesterday (May 13), Wu Chun took to Weibo to share his thoughts. “The wish I’ve had for the past few years has finally come true,” he wrote. “I never imagined that I would DIY my own wedding shoot at home… [I’m] thankful, happy, [and] content.”

Netizens also left their well-wishes — a far cry from the response he got when he first announced he was a taken man — with comments like “Thank you for your positive energy, please be happy forever” and “This family never fails to make me smile without knowing it, love them”.
