The Best Moments From Let’s Celebrate 2021
There were virtual performances by local and international artistes, as well as a fashion show.
The crowds may have stayed home this year amid the pandemic, but Mediacorp’s annual countdown party went on, virtually at least. Hosted by Jean Danker and Joakim Gomez, Let's Celebrate 2021, which aired last night (Dec 31) on Channel 5, saw celebrities like Felicia Chin, Nathan Hartono, Paige Chua, and more joining the festivities from the comforts of their own homes.
From exciting performances by local and international artistes to a runway show spotlighting homegrown fashion designers, here are the highlights from the show.
Stars like Ya Hui, Tay Ying, Denise Camilia Tan, Zhai Siming, Herman Keh, Ye Jiayun, Liz Lee and Sheryl Ang, kicked off the night with a lit fashion show, strutting down the Helix Bridge as Tabitha Nauser performed a remix of her latest singles ‘Vices’ and ‘Keep My Distance’.
The celebrities were decked out in creations by homegrown fashion designers and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts alums including Max Tan, Annie Chua and Darren Loh.
Together with his band, Irish singer Ronan Keating took us down memory lane with his stay-home performance of his hit song, the very apt ‘Life Is A Rollercoaster’.
Mid performance, Ronan cued Joakim in for a duet and of course the 987 DJ rose to the occasion and did a great job in hitting the notes.
It’s been some time since we last hit the dancefloor so when TikTok sensation Jason Derulo’s hit ‘Want To Want Me’ came on, we naturally got up from our seats and grooved along.
Jason certainly wasn’t alone when he performed his dance hit, ‘Savage Love’ – his biggest 2020 song on the charts and TikTok. Fans sent in videos of themselves dancing to the song, and a few lucky ones got a chance to perform “up close” alongside the superstar. Check out their moves here.
What’s a countdown party without fireworks? Those who stayed past midnight were treated to spectacular ‘Heartland Fireworks’ displays that illuminated the skies in Bishan and Jurong.
There was also a visually stunning ‘Shine a Light’ display that was projected from The Promontory at Marina Bay, as well as special light ups at the ArtScience museum, Merlion and the Fullerton Hotel.
